Our Investigation Process

At Lyth Pearson Investigations, we follow a thorough and transparent process designed to deliver fair, impartial, and legally compliant investigations . Our method ensures all parties are treated respectfully and evidence is carefully analysed to support sound decision-making.

Step 1: Initial Assessment and Engagement

  • Receive instruction from the client and clarify the nature of the concerns.

  • Agree the Terms of Reference, scope, objectives, and timescales.

  • Identify any immediate safeguarding risks requiring urgent action.

  • Confirm confidentiality, data protection, and communication protocols.

Step 2: Evidence Gathering and Planning

  • Request and review relevant documents, including complaints, policies, emails, and records.

  • Map out key issues and individuals to be interviewed.

  • Develop an investigation plan tailored to the case.

Step 3: Conducting Interviews

  • Arrange and carry out interviews with complainants, respondents, witnesses, and others involved.

  • Use a trauma-informed and fair approach ensuring all voices are heard.

  • Record interviews carefully and maintain confidentiality.

Step 4: Analysis and Evaluation

  • Analyse all evidence collected in relation to the Terms of Reference.

  • Apply a balanced, objective approach to assess credibility and relevance.

  • Identify whether safeguarding or misconduct thresholds have been met.

Step 5: Reporting

  • Prepare a clear, comprehensive report outlining findings, evidence, and conclusions.

  • Include actionable recommendations where relevant.

  • Submit the report to the client within agreed timelines.

Step 6: Presentation and Follow-Up

  • Offer to present findings to key stakeholders as required.

  • Support the client in understanding the report and next steps.

  • Provide advice on referrals, safeguarding actions, or policy updates if needed.

Our commitment is to provide an independent, rigorous, and confidential service that supports your organisation’s safeguarding responsibilities and ensures fair treatment for all involved. All investigations are aligned to industry standards, legal and regulatory framework whilst taking into account each organisations policy’s and procedures.

Fees and Payment Terms

At Lyth Pearson Investigations, we aim to provide transparent, flexible, and competitive pricing tailored to the needs of your investigation. We offer an Initial assessment s on all investigation work to be carried out, these fees start at £300 (+VAT).

On the outcome of an initial assessment , client discussions and the scope of the work are fee’s will be discussed. Where possible and for clarity we offer fixed fee packages to suit a variety of cases and organisational preferences.

Fixed Fee Packages

For certain investigations, especially those with clearly defined scope and timescales, we offer fixed fee options. Fixed fees provide cost certainty and can be tailored based on:

  • Complexity of the investigation

  • Number of interviews anticipated

  • Volume of documentation to review

  • Specific reporting requirements

Fixed fee arrangements are agreed in advance and be dependent on investigation area and scope.

NB We can offer a hourly rate if necessary

Additional Costs

Expenses such as travel, accommodation, or specialist support (e.g., expert witnesses) will be discussed and agreed separately prior to incurring any costs.

Payment Terms

  • Every case starts with an initial paid assessment or deposit. Following this;

  • Invoices are issued monthly or upon completion of agreed actions.

  • Payment is due within 7 days of the invoice date.

  • We accept payment by bank transfer or prior agreed methods.

What can’t we do?

We do not provide legal advice, represent parties in legal proceedings, or act as advocates. We do not conduct criminal investigations for law enforcement or provide counselling services.

Our role is strictly to carry out independent, impartial investigations and produce factual reports for client use.

We do not operate outside of the United Kingdom.
